Graduate Programs Score in U.S. News & World Report Rankings

Business, law and health specialties noted in Top 25

Saint Louis University has more than 20 programs ranked among the top 100 in the United States in the recently released 2013 U.S. News & World Report "Best Graduate Schools" rankings. Seven SLU programs were listed in the top 25.

Health Law Tops List Again

SLU's health law program landed in the No. 1 spot for the ninth consecutive year. The program is supported by the renowned Center for Health Law Studies, which is home to some of the top scholars in the field.

Tim Greaney, J.D., co-director of Center for Health Law Studies, said SLU's health law program offers students a competitive edge.

"U.S. News & World Report's recognition of the Saint Louis University Center for Health Law Studies is a testament to our faculty's strong scholarship and sought-after expertise and the combination of top-notch classroom and practical experiences we provide our law students," Greaney said.

"Our students enter the competitive legal workforce with valuable background and training to assist the community with important legal health matters, and we're proud to be educating lawyers who can make an impact on an issue facing millions of Americans."

Geriatrics Ranked in Top 15

Included for more than a dozen years as among the 20 best programs in the United States, SLU's geriatric medicine program climbed in the rankings to No. 13.

"Boomers are growing older and living longer - sometimes with complicated health issues that need to be delicately managed. This creates huge opportunities for geriatricians to make a substantive difference in the lives of their patients," said John Morley, director of the Division of Geriatric Medicine in SLU's School of Medicine.

"This national ranking of our program confirms that SLU continues to set a high standard in training tomorrow's geriatricians how to provide the best possible patient care."

Business Programs Get High Marks

SLU's graduate programs in entrepreneurship, international business and supply chain management were in the top 25 in this year's rankings.

Ellen Harshman, Ph.D., J.D., dean of the John Cook School of Business, said having top ranked programs in these key fields is a positive indicator that SLU is at the forefront of preparing students for the global marketplace.

"SLU's business programs provide the students of today with the academic knowledge, hands-on learning and creative acumen needed to be successful leaders," Harshman said.

She also noted that all three academic programs are supported by nationally known centers and institutes.
