The announcement was made by Edward Jones Managing Partner Jim Weddle who was the guest speaker at the business school’s Oct. 3 dean’s breakfast series.

“Edward Jones is proud to support the Chaifetz School of Business with our pledge because we know that world-class universities produce an educated, diverse and talented workforce that will help this region grow and prosper," Weddle said. “We believe that businesses, working in partnership with educational and civic organizations, make St. Louis a better place to live and do business."

The gift, which will establish the Edward Jones Deanship at the Chaifetz School and is the first named deanship in the business school’s 107-year history, will be given over five years. It also marks the first time in Edward Jones’ 95-year history that the firm has attached its name to a business school dean’s title.

Mark Higgins, Ph.D., dean of the Chaifetz School, said the gift from Edward Jones continues their long-standing support for the school and its mission of creating ethical business leaders.

“The annual income generated by this forward-thinking gift will be able to support any number of future discretionary priorities for the dean and the school,” Higgins said. “Faculty resources, student aid or even smaller capital and equipment needs may all benefit.”

The firm previously established the Edward Jones Endowed Professorship in Finance and the Edward Jones Data Analytics Lab within the school.
