SLU 101 Goes Virtual to Welcome Future Billikens

SLU 101, summer orientation, is just around the corner. This year, SLU's traditional summer welcome for new Billikens and their families will look a bit different as the University makes the best plans for the safety of all while still meeting the needs of the incoming new students and families.
For Students
This summer, SLU 101 for students will be handled through a three-phase approach.
There will still be nine SLU 101 freshmen sessions and three SLU 101 transfer sessions. Students will receive access to a pre-SLU 101 online orientation platform for them to gain information prior to "attending" their SLU 101 session.
New students' SLU 101 sessions will be a reduced/modified schedule hosted live/virtual through Zoom. Students will then have a post-SLU 101 experience with additional online orientation information with next steps as well as additional outreach to students from the SLU 101 Leaders.
For Billiken Families and Friends
SLU 101 this summer for families/guests will be handled through a two-phase approach. Parents/Guardians will have an online orientation platform that they can complete at their own time - nothing will be tied to the SLU 101 session that their student will "attend".
They will then have some opt-in/add-on experiences that parents/guardians can "attend" to gain more information later in June through mid-July and these will be hosted either in Facebook Live or through Zoom.
The SLU 101 goals and outcomes are still being used to create the experience for this summer since these reflect the University mission and values. However, the information will just be delivered through different methods.
Students and families have enjoyed the in-person SLU 101 program in the past and have had many positive things to say about their experience and interactions with others around campus during their SLU 101 visit.
The goal for this summer is to still provide an informative experience to students and families through different methods to help them feel comfortable starting their life as a Billiken at Saint Louis University.
