Apply Now for Fall 2017 Tuition Exchange Program

The Benefits Office has announced that eligibility criteria for tuition benefits offered at SLU have expanded. Effective immediately, employees who celebrate their three-year anniversary any time during the month for which dependent tuition benefits are sought are now eligible to apply for tuition remission, tuition exchange and FACHEX.

Thus, all benefit-eligible employees with anniversaries in January and applying for spring semesters, June anniversaries applying for summer semesters, and August anniversaries applying for fall may now be eligible for these tuition benefits after three years of full-time service.

As a reminder, now is the time to apply for the tuition exchange program for fall 2017. The tuition exchange program enables selected children of Saint Louis University employees who are eligible for dependent tuition remission benefits to apply for a tuition exchange program scholarship at any of the more than 600 tuition exchange program participating colleges and universities. Click here for the application and procedure information. For a complete listing of participating institutions, visit the Tuition Exchange Program webpage.

The deadline for application submission is 5 p.m. Monday, Oct. 3, for the award year that begins with the fall 2017 semester. If your dependent is currently receiving this benefit, you must recertify in February each year prior to the March 1 deadline for recertification.

SLU employees are advised that the Tuition Exchange Program is being made available in addition to the existing Faculty and Staff Children Exchange Program, FACHEX, and the applications for each program must be made separately. Find information regarding FACHEX, as well as the application here.

Contact the University Benefits Office at benefits@slu.edu with any questions.

This change acknowledges employees who may have anniversaries following the start of an academic semester, and will provide an opportunity for employees to take advantage of the benefits during the respective semesters as opposed to waiting until the following. However, all other requirements remain in place: dependent spouses and natural or adopted children may only use the benefit to pursue their first undergraduate degree, and dependent children must be under the age of 25.
