SLU Launches 2+SLU Dual-Admission Program with St. Louis Community College

Saint Louis University and St. Louis Community College (STLCC) have partnered to launch 2+SLU, a dual-admission program that offers students the opportunity to earn a bachelor’s degree in select programs at SLU in two years, after completing an associate degree at St. Louis Community College.

A kick-off event for the 2+SLU program will take place from 1–2:30 p.m. Wednesday, March 1, at STLCC-Forest Park’s Student Center Café West. Members of the SLU community are encouraged to attend the event.

Increasing Access to Four-Year Degrees

The 2+SLU dual-admission program provides students with another access point into Saint Louis University and the top-ranked programs the University offers.

“This collaboration between SLU and St. Louis Community College is a long-term initiative focused on bringing a premier SLU education within reach of more students,” said Jay Goff, SLU’s vice president of enrollment management.

For the growing number of students who begin their postsecondary education at a community college with plans to later transfer to a four-year university, programs like 2+SLU are a valuable option.

“While SLU has always welcomed students transferring from community colleges, the 2+SLU program will provide students with a more seamless transition and a well-defined path — pre- and post-transfer — to their chosen degree,” Goff said.

Equipping Transfer Students to Succeed

As part of the 2+SLU program, students will have access to campus resources such as Pius XII Memorial Library, and guidance from advisers at both STLCC and SLU to ensure classes taken at the community college meet the student’s individual educational goals and satisfy 2+SLU requirements.

The new program is intended to help students be engaged with SLU’s campus culture early in their college experience.

“2+SLU offers an opportunity to build relationships with students before they even set foot in a SLU classroom,” said Jean Gilman Cox, SLU’s dean of admission. “Not only will 2+SLU boost the academic continuity of transferring from STLCC to SLU, students can become part of the SLU community from day one.”
