"It was a great night for the Saint Louis University School of Nursing," said Teri Murray, Ph.D., dean of SLU's nursing school.
"We are very proud of Margaret and Verna. I am very glad to have them representing SLU in receiving this well-deserved honor and accomplishment."
The nurses were among those recognized for their compassion, professionalism, integrity, leadership in the profession and extraordinary level of patient care. Cathy Koetting, DNP, assistant professor of nursing, was a finalist in the education category.
The announcements were made at the March of Dimes' gala on Saturday, Nov. 9. They were among 20 nurses recognized in 18 different categories. A committee of health care professionals reviewed more than 300 applications submitted statewide.
