The "All Steinway School" designation is awarded to an institution by Steinway in recognition of that institution's commitment to excellence. With the signing of the agreement, SLU begins the process of becoming an "All Steinway School" and when all the required guidelines have been met the University will be listed on the "All Steinway School" roster.
Cynthia Stollhans, Ph.D., interim chair of the department of fine and performing arts, shares her excitement and that of her department as they look forward to the arrival of the first new Steinways.
"I am personally very excited about our new commitment to become an ‘All-Steinway School,'" Stollhans said. "The music program's new relationship with Steinway -- the standard for excellence in pianos -- reflects Saint Louis University's commitment to excellence across the curriculum. All students, regardless of their major, will benefit from the presence of world-class Steinway pianos at SLU,"
Associate professor of music and coordinator for keyboard studies Pamela Dees, D.M.A, will join Father Barber and Father Albert Rotola, S.J., from the Office of Admission the week of Aug. 15 on a trip to the New York City Steinway Gallery and factory to select the first of SLU's new pianos.
Opportunities are available to the SLU community and the public to donate to the purchase of the new Steinway pianos. To make a donation visit giving.slu.edu and note that the gift should be allocated to the "Steinway Piano Campaign Fund."
