Prison Program Receives Funding From Local Corporations

Saint Louis University has received two corporate gifts that provide funding for the Prison Program in Bonne Terre, Mo. The Jesuit-inspired initiative provides education to incarcerated men and prison staff as well as promoting service and conducting research about crime and incarceration

SLU's prison program provides educational opportunities for incarcerated men and prison staff in Bonne Terre, Mo.

Through the School for Professional Studies, SLU offers a degree program and arts and education programming while investigating the connections between education and recidivism.

To help fund this program, Mercy has generously given a $20,000 gift that will go to support its general operating expenses. Mercy is committed to ministry and this contribution allows Mercy to be a part of providing education to the incarcerated and staff in order to better their lives.

The Keefe Group also gave a generous donation to the Prison Program by sponsoring the National Conference on Prison Higher Education at SLU. As a part of the conference, the program's board hosted a reception graciously sponsored by the Keefe Group. Their contribution of $3,000 allowed the program to share its mission with others in the St. Louis community.
