U.S. News Names SLU a Top-100 National University in Latest Rankings
Undergraduate business and engineering programs rise significantly this year
U.S. News & World Report once again has recognized Saint Louis University as a top-100 national university, ranking SLU among the top five Jesuit institutions in the United States.
In the recently released 2013 edition of "America's Best Colleges," U.S. News ranked SLU 92nd among nearly 270 institutions listed in the magazine's "National Universities" category.
The University's undergraduate business programs took a major jump in this year's rankings, rising to 87 from 115 last year. The magazine also gave high marks to SLU's undergraduate programs in entrepreneurship (No. 13) and international business (No. 18).
Ellen Harshman, J.D., Ph.D., dean of the John Cook School, said the U.S. News rankings reflect the school's continuing commitment to providing both the academic excellence and hands-on experiences needed to prepare students to be the business leaders of the future.
"We are pleased about being recognized as a leading educational institution that provides undergraduate students a thorough foundation from which to pursue an advanced degree and build a successful business career," Harshman said.
The University's undergraduate engineering programs climbed substantially in this year's U.S. News rankings as well, from 156 to 132 , continuing a rising trend for SLU's Parks College of Engineering, Aviation and Technology.
In the "America's Best Colleges" report, SLU also made the "A+ Schools for B+ Students" and "High School Counselor's Picks" lists.
The top rankings for SLU don't end at the undergraduate level either.
Earlier this year, U.S. News named the University's health law program No. 1 in the nation for the ninth consecutive year. In its "Best Graduate Schools 2013" issue, the magazine also ranked several other graduate programs in the top 25, including public health administration at No. 9, geriatric medicine at No. 13, entrepreneurship at No. 17, international business at No. 20 and supply chain management at No. 21.
