Teaching: Dr. Meyer teaches in all phases of the program, providing the majority of the content on basic needs of patients and much of the content on chronic illness in adults and older adults. She also provides clinical supervision to students in adult or gerontological nursing settings.
Research: Her research interests include the study of self-care practices of adults with chronic illness as well as the study of diagnostic reasoning in nursing. She is currently involved in work with the Nlinks project (NLINKS - Language In Nursing Knowledge Systems).
Professional and Scholarly Activities: She is a member of the North American Nursing Diagnosis Association and an elected member of the Diagnostic Review Committee for that organization. She is a member of Sigma Theta Tau International and currently serves as the archivist for Saint Louis University's Delta Lambda Chapter of STTI. Gerrie is also a member of the American Nurses Association.
