Teaching: Dr. Ellis teaches in the nurse practitioner options. Her primary teaching assignments include on-site and online courses in advanced pathophysiology and advanced health assessment.
Practice: Dr. Ellis is certified as an adult nurse practitioner and as a family nurse practitioner. She currently maintains a clinical practice one day per week in a private family practice office.
Research: Dr. Ellis's primary research interests are in the areas of problem-based learning, critical thinking, and clinical decision-making.
Professional and Scholarly Activities: Dr. Ellis is a member of the American Nurses Association and the Missouri Nurses Association. She is also a member of Sigma Theta Tau International for which she currently serves as on the Panel of Visitors and Evaluators. She is an evaluator for the Commission on Collegiate Nursing Education (CCNE) and serves as a member of CCNE's Report Review Committee. She has reviewed manuscripts for the Journal of Advanced Nursing . She has authored and co-authored book chapters in nursing textbooks.
