Certification & Licensure

The credentials of Registered Dietitian are earned through successful completion of academic and supervised practice requirements and a computer-based, variable length examination. Forty-six states have enacted legislation regulating the practice of dietetics. This legislation is separate and distinct from registration or certification by the Commission on Dietetic Registration. For more information on certification and licensure visit the CDR website at
