How competitive is your program?
SLU receives an average of 150 - 200 applications per year for 34 internship spots.
What is your pass rate on the RD exam?
SLU has a 93% pass rate over the past five years. In 2011, we attained a pass rate of 100%.
What is the average GPA of your interns?
The overall GPA for accepted interns is a 3.5.
Where should I live?
There are many great neighborhoods in St. Louis. Most interns choose to live in the Tower Grove, Soulard, Downtown or Central West End neighborhoods. On-campus graduate housing is not available.
What will my schedule look like during the internship?
While no two days are the same during the internship the following is a rough guideline of what your days will look like. Interns complete graduate coursework on Mondays from 9 am to 5 pm, Tuesday-Friday interns are in their sites during the day. These schedules can vary depending on the rotation and facility. Graduate classes are typically held from 5 - 6:30 pm Monday-Thursday during the fall semester. Spring semester class times vary depending on the courses taken but are generally still held in the early evening hours.
Where are the rotation sites and do I need a car?
Rotation sites are located all over the St. Louis metropolitan area. The furthest site is approximately 40 miles from SLU. While some of the sites are located close to metro bus and light-rail stops it is necessary to have a vehicle.
How long does the internship last?
The internship begins in early August and finishes the following August.
Is there financial aid available?
Financial aid is available through the graduate school, learn more by clicking here. For students choosing to stay at SLU to finish their Masters Degrees graduate assistantships are available.
What is the average cost per month of an apartment in St. Louis?
Depending on if you choose to rent a studio, one bedroom or two bedroom prices vary. A studio apartment rent can cost between $500-800/month, a one bedroom can cost between $600-700/month, and a two bedroom can cost around $800-900/month. These prices are estimations, but are based off of what current interns and graduate assistants are paying. Also note that these do not include utilities.
