The Department of Nutrition and Dietetics is pleased to announce the availability of tuition-remission scholarship awards for the academic year 2016/2017. The awards have been funded by the Sr. Mary Carolla Sellmeyer Scholarship, the Culinary Scholarship, and the Healthy Futures Diversity Scholarship. All dietetic undergraduate students are encouraged to apply for the Sr. Mary Carolla Sellmeyer Scholarship. Applicants for the Culinary Scholarship must have declared a culinary emphasis. The Healthy Futures Diversity Scholarship is to promote diversity within the department. Preference will be given to members of the San Francisco Temple Complex or Bethlehem Lutheran Church. All materials to be reviewed by the committee are outlined on the attached Scholarship Criteria Information Sheet.

GOAL: To assist qualified students in meeting the expenses of the undergraduate program in Nutrition and Dietetics.
CONDITION OF AWARD: Monies are to be used for tuition only.
ELIGIBILITY: The student must be a declared Nutrition and Dietetics major in the
Department of Nutrition and Dietetics before the student can be awarded the scholarship. Applicants for the Culinary Scholarship must be DPD students with a declared culinary emphasis.
SELECTION OF RECIPIENTS: Will be based on the following:
1. Indication from past academic, work, and volunteer experience that
applicant has the background preparation and scholarly abilities needed to complete the program.
2. Evidence from past achievements and plans that applicant has:
a. ability and interest to contribute to the profession,
b. commitment to the field of dietetics,
c. realistic and relevant plans for future professional involvement.
3. Financial need as noted on Scholarship Application form.
Review of applications and selection of recipients will be conducted by the Scholarship Committee.
APPLICATION MATERIALS TO BE REVIEWED:
1. Scholarship Application Form
2. Application to SLU (on file within the department).
3. Transcript(s) of grades received in High School/College (on file within the department).
4. One Letter of Recommendation
Scholarship Application Form and Letter of Recommendation should be submitted at the same time and must be received by the Department no later than May 6, 2016.
