Advisory Boards

At the Saint Louis University School for Professional Studies, we pride ourself on the excellence of our faculty and staff. So, it is no surprise that we have gone the extra mile to put together industry boards for specific academic programs.

These boards are comprised of business and community leaders who volunteer their time to set goals to improve the school. Our board members review student outcomes and trends in academic and professional fields, develop community service initiatives, increase the visibility of SPS programs, raise money for scholarships and develop external partnerships.

Workforce Center, Computer and Security Advisory Board

The Workforce Center, Computer and Security Advisory Board is comprised of several volunteer industry leaders who meet regularly to improve both the for-credit online CIS and SSI programs and the noncredit Workforce Center with curriculum direction and relationship building with other organizations.  Its goals are to:

  • Enhance school visibility and serve as ambassadors for the University, School for Professional Studies, the undergraduate and graduate programs, and grow the Workforce Center.
  • Identify experiential learning opportunities for students, such as internships, co-operative programs, mentorships and course projects
  • Identify new and important trends in the IT and security industries as well as-up-and coming trends in non-credit course needs and their impact on our programs
  • Provide input about career opportunities and industry expectations for students
  • Provide input and feedback on program-level initiatives and both short-and long-term planning

If you have questions about the board or ideas to assist the board members, contact Joe Lyons at 314-977-3204 or lyonsjd@slu.edu or John Buerck at buerckjp@slu.edu or 314-977-2320.
