Hospitality Management (Minor or Certificate)

Saint Louis University’s online hospitality management certificate or minor prepares you for leadership roles in the hospitality industry. This includes but is not limited to careers in hotels and lodging, gaming, event, tourism and food service management.

Minor in Hospitality Management

Students who are already pursuing a degree within SLU’s School for Professional Studies, such as organizational studies, may combine their major with this 21-credit hour program for a minor in hospitality management.

Hospitality Management Certificate

If you've already obtained a bachelor's degree or higher, or if you meet the prerequisites, SLU offers a stand-alone hospitality management certificate that can be pursued entirely online.

No matter which option you choose, you’ll learn about industry-specific topics such as tourism, event management, guest service management, administration and the integration of technology in hospitality through problem-based learning, allowing for practical, real-life application. Graduates of SLU’s hospitality management program are ready to take on leadership roles at country clubs, amusement parks and in the areas of event management, hotel and resort management, food and beverage management, and gaming and casino management.

The Hospitality Industry Advisory Board Scholarship and Lumiere Place Hospitality Scholarship are awarded exclusively to School for Professional Studies hospitality students in the fall and spring semesters in the amount of $2,000 each.

Applicant Criteria

Students interested in studying hospitality management at SLU must apply directly to the School for Professional Studies. Applications are accepted and processed on a rolling basis. Students are encouraged to apply for admission at least one month before the beginning of the term in which they wish to enroll.

To be eligible for admission, School for Professional Studies students must be at least 22 years old (exceptions may be made on a case-by-case basis). Students must have a high school diploma or a GED composite score of at least 2250, and have at least three years of work experience or the equivalent. Students must also successfully complete an admission meeting with a SPS admissions counselor.
