Red Carnation, the Official ADG Flower

ADG Page Break

The Fraternity Flower chosen by Alpha Delta Gamma is one which blooms throughout the year and one that can be found in all parts of the world, just as Brotherhood is everywhere within the Fraternity. Our flower is the carnation. More particularly, the red carnation symbolizes the true flame of Brotherhood. The Red Carnation was officially adopted by the 1962 Convention upon the suggestion of Benjamin Aranda (Lambda) and Michael E. Dessimoz (Alpha).

ADG Insect

Praying Mantis

At the 58th National Convention in Fort Mitchell, KY, Brother Anthony Smulders, National Moderator (1980-Present) proposed the inclusion of the Praying Mantis as a living symbol of the fraternity.

"Do you know Mantis Legends? How it was all started? It was fighting off this blackbird, and although it was only a tenth of the bird's size, it was a very valient insect, and that's why the technique needs a brave man, and a very strong one, who isn't afraid of birds. The Mantis Style isn't easy to learn. The Mantis is small but powerful. With it's arms, it can lift up many times its own weight." - Invincible Shaolin
