Alpha Phi Omega promotes and provides two types of service opportunities to students: episodic and continuous.
Episodic service is a one-time commitment service project. If a nursing home is hosting a carnival and needs volunteers to help, this would be episodic service, as it is not a weekly commitment. The different types of service that qualify as episodic service are many and vast. If you think your organization has a project APO can volunteer for, please contact us!
Continuous service is when a student commits time and skills to an organization or site on a regular basis. It is a great way for students to build relationships with the people they are serving, as well as see the long term and lasting effects of their dedication. Past continuous service sites have involved volunteer work in the following categories: tutoring or mentoring children, clerical service, elderly, disabled, environmental, family care and housing, medical, social justice, and crime/abuse victims. These are only but a few. If you would like to offer your organization as a continuous service site, please contact us!
