Article I: Name:
The official name of this organization is the Asian Student In Action
(ASIA)
Article II: Mission
(Objectives of the Asian Student In Action at Saint Louis University)
1. Build pride, unity, and friendship among Asian and Asian American
students to promote Asian and Asian American awareness.
2. Create a center for Asian American Studies at Saint Louis University.
3. Promote leadership among Asian and Asian American students through
programs and scholarships.
4. Address the educational needs and rights of Asian and Asian Americans.
5. Maintain a network of Asian American student organizations in the St.
Louis metropolitan area.
6. Sponsor and co-sponsor programs at Saint Louis University and off
campus.
7. Collect and disseminate information about race-relation problems.
8. To assist and encourage all students in their efforts both to battle
against discrimination and to demand equal opportunity for all.
9. Unite with, learn from and support other organizations engaged in the
pursuit of civil liberties.
10. Combat oppression in all forces weather it be racism, sexism, or
classism.

The Asian Student In Action is the official representative body for Asian
and Asian American students at Saint Louis University. ASIA promotes the
educational, social, cultural, and political development of its member
through diverse programming. As a multifaceted organization, ASIA strives
to advocate for the Asian and Asian American community both on campus and
beyond.
ASIA encourages student activism to challenge issues that affect the Asian
and Asian American community, such as hate crimes, discrimination, and
affirmative action. Only with unity, activism, and In Action building can
we overcome such obstacles.
Furthermore, ASIA provides a family environment such as a social support
network for members to excel in college and grow as individuals and
student leaders. It is our hope that these relations, experience and
self-cultivated qualities maintain and extend past graduation.
Article III: Membership
1. ASIA welcomes all students with an interest in Asian Culture across all
members and issues related to Asian and Asian American identity.
2. Faculty and Staff are eligible for honorary memberships.
3. Every member who is currently in ASIA must re-apply for membership the
following year.
4. Unless there is an emergency, a member is required to not miss more
than 3 meetings each semester.
5. Members must notify any person from the Executive Board of their
absence one day in advance to the General Board Meeting.
6. It is expected, as a member, when absence to obtain all information
from any person of the Executive Board.
7. Members have the rights to address any concerns they have to the
Executive Board.
8. Members are expected to participate and discuss policies, projects, and
plans in their corresponding committees or at the ASIA General Meeting.
9. Membership fee is $10/per semester and is turned in at the beginning of
each semester.
10. Associate membership is made available for non-St. Louis University
students.
a. Associate Membership fee is $5/per semester and is turned in at the
beginning of each semester.
b. In any events hosted by ASIA, an associate member must pay full
coverage.

ˇ@ Article IV: Officers
1. The officers of ASIA shall be the President, Vice President, Secretary,
Treasure / Member of Parliament, Director of Alumni
Relations/Fundraisings, Director of Programming, Director of
Communications, Historian, Web Master, and Freshman Advisor.
2. Duties of the Officers:
A. The President shall:
1. For fairness and efficiency uphold and enforce the adopted
Constitution.
2. Be the chief executive officer of ASIA, run an effective and productive
organization, and exemplify the principles of the organization
3. Run an informative and orderly meeting once a week
4. Call a special meeting in address a single emergency situation when
deemed necessary. For such a meeting to occur the President must:
A. inform the Executive Board and or all the members of ASIA,
B. have a half of the members present.
5. Formulate an agenda for each meeting and ensure that the agenda are
made available to each member at the General Body Meeting.
6. Propose policies, programs, and plans to the Executive Board and the
General Body and direct administration and execution of those policies,
programs, plans.
7. Coordinate activities of established committees of proposed projects.
8. Oversee the Executive Board duties and delegate assignments to the
Executive Board.
9. Be responsible for the harmony of all the officers and do what is best
for the interest of the organization.
10. Conduct General Body Meetings with the help of other member of the
Executive Board.
11. Be an active student leader/advocate on and off campus
12. Be responsible for knowledge and understanding of all actions of the
organization
B. The Vice President shall:
1. Act as President in any way possible
2. Act as an aid to assist President in any functions of the organization
3. Mandatory attendance to all functions of the organization
4. Have knowledge and understanding of all interactions of the
organization
5. Coordinate and oversee all volunteer events
6. Take the responsibilities of the organization when the President is
unavailable
C. The Secretary shall:
1. Develop, complete, and distribute the agenda for the General Body
Meetings
2. Record and organize the minutes of all meetings
3. Keep record of all written correspondence of the organization
4. Give oral report of previous week minutes, which after read will be
voted on for approval by constituents
5. Give a type copy of the minutes to the Web Master
6. Assist Director of Programming and Communication in current projects.
7. Take charge of the organization when President and Vice President are
unavailable
D. The Treasure/Member of Parliament shall:
1. Represent the students of their subgroup on the ISF Parliament.
2. Have voting power over proposals and amendments proposed by our and
other subgroups.
3. Responsible for collecting membership fees.
4. Give a brief oral report monthly to officers.
5. Email a report to all officers on the 29th of each month.
6. Officially provide a signature for all transactions
(President and Director of Fundraiser are the two alternatives).
7. Keep and organize written records of all financial transactions of the
organization.
8. Formulate and give contracts when soliciting outside contractors.
9. Be in charge of the organization when President, Vice President, and
Secretary are unavailable.
E. The Director of Alumni Relations and Fundraisings shall:
1. Be responsible for developing an alumni chapter for the organization.
2. Maintain monthly/semester communication via emails, letters with alumni
sharing past and upcoming activities of the organization.
3. Be responsible for searching and notifying the organization of
fundraising opportunities.
4. Coordinate and oversee all fundraising events.
5. In charge of the organization when President, Vice President and other
officers are unavailable.
F. The Director of Programming shall:
1. Organize and plan all social, cultural, and educational activities of
organization.
2. Work closely with Secretary and Director of Communications when
planning and implementing activities for the organization.
3. Report all ideas to the executive board for approval.
4. Report all events/activities to constituents at the weekly meetings.
5. In charge of the organization when President, Vice President, and other
officers are unavailable.
G. The Director of Communications shall:
1. Be responsible for implementing activities approved by the executive
board and the consensus from members attending the General Body Meeting.
2. Recruit new members into the organization.
3. Submit and log facilities request.
4. Complete work in a timely fashion.
5. Responsible for all of the public correspondence of organization.
6. Give a copy of all advertisement works to President, Vice President and
Secretary.
7. Distribute flyers, poster advertisements, ect on and off campus when
needed.
8. Be in charge of the organization when President, Vice President, and
other officers are unavailable.
H. The Historian shall:
1. Maintain a photo book.
2. Keep creative material (e.g. writing, pictures, and/or videos of all
functions of organization).
3. Maintain a list of everyoneˇ¦s birthday and other special occasions.
4. Give a biannual presentation of the events of the previous semester at
the end semester meeting.
I. The Web Master shall:
1. Responsible for and maintain the web page of the organization
2. Make sure the web page is updated weekly.
3. Advise the Executive Board on the content of the ASIA website.
4. Post a copy of the minutes as a link in the website.
5. Communicate with ASIA members in order to achieve contents on the
website.
6. Receive feedback from the constituents in hopes of improving the
content of the website to the best of one's ability.
J. The Freshman Advisor shall:
1. Act as the representative voice of the freshman student body.
2. Act as a page to the executive board by helping with the functioning of
the organization.
Article V: Finances
1. The Treasurer/Member of Parliament shall propose for funding.
2. Proposals should be communicated to the Executive Members.
3. Allocation comes from the budget of the International Student
Federation.
4. Donations are accepted in order to fund and host events.
5. Dues are also implemented in order to maintain bank account
(Suggestion: US Bank doesn't require a maintenance fee from us unless we
make more than 20 transactions a month. We need dues, however, to help
sponsor some of our various events and provide some snacks at our
meetings). We need to decide together as a group what proportion of the
dues goes towards what.
Article VII: Impeachment
1. Impeachment of any Executive Officer may take place in either of the
following situations:
A. If s/he has not maintained his/her duties as described in Article IV.
B. If s/he has more than 3 unexcused absences in meetings.
Article VII: Membership Probation
1. ASIA member who exceed three unexcused absence or does not notify any
of the Executive Members of their absence one day prior to the General
Body meeting will be place in Probation.
2. Probation does not mean members are banned from this organization,
however, a less than one-page statement should be written to the executive
Board officers stating why they would still like to become a participating
ASIA member. Three hours of community service are required, and an
interview with three executive members should be established to indicate
to us that a member would still like to be apart of the organization.
After the interview, the three executive members will vote immediately
using ballots whether to decline or approve the person's membership
status.
3. Membership is terminated immediately only failure upon preceding the
above requirements.
Article VIII: Amendments
1. Any proposal in regards to changes or amendments to this constitution
will be discussed and voted on no earlier than at the next meeting after
the proposal has been presented.
2. All constitutional changes or amendments must be passed by 3/4 of the
present active member of ASIA in order for such a vote to take place.
