Mission Statement of ASIA
Objectives of the Asian Student In Action at Saint Louis University
1. Build pride, unity, and friendship among Asian and Asian American
students to promote Asian and Asian American awareness.
2. Create a center for Asian American Studies at Saint Louis University.
3. Promote leadership among Asian and Asian American students through
programs and scholarships.
4. Address the educational needs and rights of Asian and Asian Americans.
5. Maintain a network of Asian American student organizations in the St.
Louis metropolitan area.
6. Sponsor and co-sponsor programs at Saint Louis University and off
campus.
7. Collect and disseminate information about race-relation problems.
8. To assist and encourage all students in their efforts both to battle
against discrimination and to demand equal opportunity for all.
9. Unite with, learn from and support other organizations engaged in the
pursuit of civil liberties.
10. Combat oppression in all forces weather it be racism, sexism, or
classism.

The Asian Student In Action is the official representative body for Asian
and Asian American students at Saint Louis University. ASIA promotes the
educational, social, cultural, and political development of its member
through diverse programming. As a multifaceted organization, ASIA strives
to advocate for the Asian and Asian American community both on campus and
beyond.
ASIA encourages student activism to challenge issues that affect the Asian
and Asian American community, such as hate crimes, discrimination, and
affirmative action. Only with unity, activism, and coalition building can
we overcome such obstacles.
Furthermore, ASIA provides a family environment such as a social support
network for members to excel in college and grow as individuals and
student leaders. It is our hope that these relations, experience and
self-cultivated qualities maintain and extend past graduation.
