Every resident of the Griesedieck Complex (Griesedieck, Walsh, and Clemens Halls) is automatically a member of the Griesedieck Hall Council. Each floor has one elected representative who holds the vote for the floor at the weekly meetings. There are six Executive Board positions that are also elected by the General Body.

There are also several standing and ad hoc committees that any member can participate on these committees and will be responsible for many different aspects of your life in the residence hall.

General Membership

Membership of GHC shall be open to all residents of the Griesedieck Complex. As members in good standing, each resident of Griesedieck Complex may:

  1. Attend every meeting and participate in the discussions;
  2. Serve on committees as determined by mutual selection with the Executive Board;
  3. Provide assistance to the Executive Board when requested.

Elected Floor Representatives

The Floor Representatives are appointed in accordance to the constitution and shall:

  1. Attend every meeting, participate in discussions, and report on the news of the meetings to the Residents of their floor;
  2. Serve on or chair committees as determined by mutual selection with the Executive Board;
  3. Provide assistance to the Executive Board as requested;
  4. Volunteer time for events and commitments outside of the regularly scheduled meetings;
  5. May be filled by the floor's RA if no other resident can attend the meeting.

Executive Board Members

President
The President shall:

  1. Be completely responsible to GHC for the functioning of the organization;
  2. Uphold and defend the Constitution;
  3. Prepare an agenda and run meetings in accordance with that agenda;
  4. Maintain the image and standards of GHC;
  5. Serve as the direct contact between the advisor and GHC;
  6. Create an ad-hoc committee if necessary.

Executive Vice President
The Executive Vice President shall:

  1. Assume all responsibilities of the President in his/her absence;
  2. Chair the Facilities Committee;
  3. Organize elections for the Executive Board.

Activities Vice President
The Social Vice President shall:

  1. Organize all social and community service activities;
  2. Chair the Activities Committee;
  3. Organize the community building efforts and the inter-floor competitions throughout the year.

Communications Vice President
The Communications Vice President shall:

  1. Take, duplicate, and file minutes from GHC meetings;
  2. Hold responsibility for all written communication to and from GHC;
  3. Record attendance at all of the meetings;
  4. Chair the Historical Committee;
  5. Work with the RA advisor to enforce this attendance.

Publicity Vice President
The Publicity Vice President shall:

  1. Provide publicity for any GHC sponsored events and meetings;
  2. Maintain and update the GHC bulletin board;
  3. Maintain and update the GHC website;
  4. Oversee the Toilet Paper newsletter.

Financial Vice President
The Financial Vice President shall:

  1. Prepare a budget for each semester;
  2. Maintain a current financial report and discuss it when necessary;
  3. Provide advice to GHC concerning matters of money;
  4. Chair the Financial Committee and be responsible for coordinating organizational fundraising efforts.
  5. Be responsible for secondary consideration of petitions made for money.

Publicity Committee

The Publicity Committee is chaired by the Publicity Vice President and is responsible for all publicity and advertising for GHC. This includes the website, bulletin board, and Toilet Paper newsletter.

Historical Committee

The Historical Committee is chaired by the Communications Vice President and is responsible for preserving a record of year. This includes pictures, documents, articles, and other records as decided by the committee of appointed by the general assembly.

Financial Committee

The Financial Committee manages the finances for GHC and plans and organizes fundraising efforts. This committee is responsible for submitting and processing Purchase Order Requests as well as coordinating purchasing efforts.

Facilities Committee

The Facilities Committee creates and follows up proposals for minor Complex improvements and massive capital improvements, maintains contact with facilities and housing directors, and handles concerns and recognition for housekeeping and maintenance services.

Activities Committee

The Activities Committee manages the ongoing "Wednesday Wars", organizes community service and topical activities for the building, and coordinates the other building events, such as the hall formal.
