About GSA

The GSA is an interdisciplinary organization whose main function is three-fold: advocacy, substantive vita building and a social network for all Graduate Students. We are affiliated with the National Association of Graduate and Professional Students (NAGPS) and are also a chartered member of the National Graduate and Professional Student Honor Society, Alpha Epsilon Lambda (AEL).  An elected Executive Board govern the GSA, and its general assembly consists of one representative from each Graduate School degree program and department. Because we represent all full-time and part-time Graduate Students, we strive to make GSA a strong organization representative of the unique interests and needs common to this special population, regardless of discipline.

Our activities are varied,  with our main event being the annual Graduate Research Symposium, where all Saint Louis University Graduate School students can compete for awards while presenting cutting edge research. Another important function of GSA is to assist graduate students with partial travel funding to annual academic conferences as a means to building their vitae. We also work diligently on issues that affect the daily life of graduate students, along with promoting social functions that bring the SLU community of graduate students closer together. We believe GSA should serve as a nexus of communication between graduate students, faculty, administration and the undergraduate student population.

We are all more than willing to be of assistance to all members of the graduate student community. We invite all graduate students to participate in the activities and opportunities that GSA affords. GSA welcomes all comments and feedback—please see our home page for contact info for the Executive Board and/or your own deparment's representative.
