History of Korean Student Association at Saint Louis University

        The Korean Student Association of Saint Louis University began as an informal and nameless student organization in the late 1970s or early 1980s.  The date of the official establishment as Korean Student Association is unknown but this student organization served as a means of social interaction for Korean international students.  Also a group of student who wanted to promote the political, cultural, and social interests of the community of Korean Americans at Saint Louis University

        During mid 1980s, the Korean Student Association membership had expanded to include many Korean American who had been born in the US and had little knowledge of Korean culture and language.  The 1999 executive board decided to publish the Korean Student Association Newspaper to Saint Louis University Korean Students and Saint Louis Korean American Community. 

       Today, our Korean Student Association is one of strong student organizations and long term tradition with sixty memberships. 

The Purpose

        Korean Student Association provides cultural and social activities for Saint Louis University Students.  This organization is to promote the heritage, identity, and pride of Korean and Korean Americans here on campus, to foster mutual understanding and friendship with all Korean, Korean American and other nationalities, and to preserve Korean and Korean American student’s right and interest in Saint Louis University and Saint Louis Community.

       Korean Student Association provides academic activities where students can encourage, and help each other.  Korean Student Association also provides non-academic activities for students to escape from academic stress.  For students, we would like to bring everyone from all different majors and introduce to the incoming freshman or the returning sophomores to seniors.  That way we can learn from each other give advice about anything, from academics to professional or even on personal matters.  We hope that you will take advantage of what we have to offer as part of your journey through Saint Louis University. Therefore, our Korean Student Association aims at forming strong bonds within its own community, not only for the enjoyment of its members but also for the political, and cultural future of Koran America.
