Phi Beta Kappa Book Award

The Phi Beta Kappa Book Award is a biennial award honoring the best book in the arts and sciences published during the previous four years by a member of the Saint Louis University faculty. The award is given to a book that meets the following criteria: the book should adhere to the highest standards within its discipline; it should have significance for society at large; it should be accessible to a general reader in the academic community.

2000, Dr. Charles H. Parker, History, The Reformation of Community: Social Welfare and Calvinist Charity in Holland, 1572-1620.

Special recognition: Fr. Frederick G. McLeod, Theology, The Image of God in the Antiochene Tradition.

1998, Dr. Tomothy J. Lomperis, Political Science, From People's War to People's Rule: Insurgency, Intervention, and the Lessons of Vietnam.

1996, Fr. William Rehg, S. J., Philosophy, Insight and Solidarity: The Discourse Ethics of Jurgen Habermas.
