Phi Beta Kappa Essay Contest

PBK Gamma of Missouri began sponsoring an annual essay contest in 2000. The contest is open to all undergraduate students. The contest is announced in the fall semester of each year and a winner is selected by April of the spring semester. The essay contest winner receives a cash award of $150.00 at the Phi Beta Kappa initiation ceremony held in April. The Essay Contest Committee may choose to select a 2nd place award winner to receive $100.00.

*The chapter reserves the right not to award an essay contest winner if entries do not meet the standards of the committee.

2004 Phi Beta Kappa Essay Contest

Phi Beta Kappa Essay Contest:

Topic and Deadlin to be announced.

All currently enrolled undergraduate SLU students are eligible to participate.  Contestants need not be members of Phi Beta Kappa.

Cash prizes are $150 for first place and $100 for second place.  The winning paper may be read at the Phi Beta Kappa initiation ceremony in April 2003.  Papers should be typed in 12-point Times New Roman font, at least 5 full double-spaced pages to 8 double-spaced pages in length, and with 1-inch margins.  Essays must be titled.  Students should not put their names on their essays.  Instead, the student’s name and contact information—e-mail and postal address, telephone number, and year in school as well as major (for publicity purposes)—should appear on a separate sheet of paper attached to the essay.
