The Iota Nu Chapter of Pi Kappa Alpha was colonized at
Saint Louis University on April 14, 1989 with 37 men.
We received our charter on April 28, 1990 and since then
have soared to new heights in all aspects of campus life.
Our chapter averages around 90 members who are actively involved in every aspect of campus life at SLU.
The Pikes at Saint Louis University strive to be the
ideal Greek organization by following the ideals of "SLAG"
to the letter. This means pursuing excellence as
Scholars, Leaders, Athletes, and Gentlemen.
Scholars- For 2002-2003 Iota Nu was awarded the Scholarship Cup from Pi Kappa Alpha. The Scholarship Cup is given
to the ONE chapter with the highest GPA and Iota Nu here at SLU has it. We have one it a total of six times now. We have
multiple Pre-Medical Scholars, Pre-Law Scholars,
and Teaching Assistants. There are also many Pikes in the distinguished Honors Societies on campus including
Alpha Epsilon Delta (Pre-med Honors Society), Alpha Sigma Nu (Jesuit Honors Society), Order of Omega (Greek Honors Society),
the Pre-law Honors Society, and Phi Beta Kappa (The highest academic honor at SLU). Of the 29 people initiated into Phi Beta Kappa
in spring '98, six were Greek and four of those six were Pikes! The wealth of knowledge and resources behind you if you
are initiated into Pi Kappa Alpha is enormous. No matter what your major, you will be sure to find helpful advice with regards to your
schedule, classes, teachers, and homework.
Leaders- The Pikes at Saint Louis University have taken control of all aspects of this
campus and are driving them in new and improved directions. Here is a list of the
major positions at SLU that are occupied by members of Pi Kappa Alpha:
- President of the Student Government Association (Elected by SLU student body)
- Internal Vice President of the Inter Fraternity Council (IFC)
- Student Government Association Senators (SGA) (Representing commuting students)
- Oriflamme Treasurer (There has been a Pike on Oriflamme's eboard since our chartering)
This short list is merely an example of the roles that some brothers take in the community. Lots of Pikes are also heavily involved in social,
academic, and cultural clubs at SLU. Many brothers also chose to give up their time to help mentor under-served kids in the neighborhoods surrounded SLU.
Athletes- Our presence is felt in most men's varsity sports.
There have been multiple Pikes in Varsity Baseball, Soccer, Tennis, Golf, and Swimming over the years.
The club sports of rugby and soccer are also filled with Pikes on their rosters. Last season's club soccer team has 6 active Pike players.
The Rugby team has had a Pike captain for at least the past four years, and the team is dominated by pikes.
We also have a strong showing in intramural sports, especially soccer, softball and basketball, and have won many championships in each.
Gentlemen - Though there are no awards for this category, we pride our selves on being
the gentlemen on campus. We let our accomplishments speak for themselves, ask anyone walking down campus at Saint Louis University.
