Dr. Laurel Richardson is Professor Emeritus, Ohio State University.
Her research spans diverse interests and methodological approaches, including symbolic interactionism and interpretive and post-structural methods.
She has published extensively and is the author or editor of many books, including Fields of Play: Constructing an Academic Life (Rutgers University Press, 1997), Feminist Frontiers (McGraw Hill, 6th ed., 2003), Writing Strategies: Reaching Diverse Audiences (Sage, 1990), Gender and University Teaching: A Negotiated Difference (SUNY, 1991), The Dynamics of Sex and Gender: A Sociological Perspective (Harper & Row, 1977), and The New Other Woman (Free Press, 1985).
Dr. Richardson's visit is co-sponsored by the Qualitative Research Committee, College of Public Service, Doisy School of Allied Health Professions, Reinert Center for Teaching Excellence, School of Social Services, VOICES, Women's Studies, and the Graduate School.
