PROGRAMS OF WORK

As part of the Rainbow Alliance's mission to sponsor educational and social activities to affirm the dignity and self worth of GLBT students and their allies, we provide the following programs.

> DAY OF SILENCE:
A day-long vow of silence to recognize and protest the discrimination and harassment -- in effect, the silencing -- experienced by GLBT students and their allies.

> GALA (Gay and Lesbian Alumni):
The Rainbow Alliance Gay and Lesbian Alumni (GALA) program is an effort to keep our GLBT and Ally graduates informed of Alliance happenings and to connect current students with alumni resources.

> HIV/AIDS AWARENESS:
The Centers for Disease Control estimates that one out of every two hundred college students is HIV positive.  Rainbow Alliance supports educational HIV & AIDS programming.

> NATIONAL COMING OUT DAY:
A day to promote openness and increase awareness about GLBT issues on campus.

> OUT OF THE SHADOWS:
A literary collection of stories, thoughts and poetry representing the lives of GLBT and Ally members of the Saint Louis University Community.
> SAFE ZONE:
An educational campus-wide program to form a network of Allies dedicated to the needs of GLBT students.
> STUDENT PANELS:
Rainbow Alliance offers student panels for University 101 and diversity classes as well as residence hall programming.
> THE GUIDE:
A resource guide for GLBT students and their allies.

Rainbow Alliance is committed to supporting the GLBT community at large by celebrating national events as well as the SLU GLBT community with specialized campus programs.
