OUR CATHOLIC JESUIT HERITAGE

The Catholic Jesuit mission calls for educating the whole person. This is accomplished through a maturing of faith, self knowledge, respect for the dignity of ourselves and others, a devotion to justice, a commitment to serving the poor, and a passion for truth, reflection, and lifelong learning.

Jesuit colleges and universities uphold these values through all aspects of their institutions, in the classroom and in the university community. As time has elapsed, a more diverse student body has enrolled at these schools and for the most part, each group has eventually gained recognition and support from their institutions. Today's Jesuit schools consist of both male and female students, students of all races and ethic backgrounds and religions of the world.

1987 Gay Rights Coalition v. Georgetown University

"The district of Columbia has a compelling interest in eradicating discrimination against homosexuals and that overrides the First Amendment protection of Georgetown's religious objections to subsidizing homosexual rights."

> bonded together by a common heritage, vision and purpose
