> SAINT LOUIS
UNIVERSITY ANTIDISCRIMINATION POLICY
Saint Louis University prohibits discrimination based on race,
color, sex, national origin, religion, age, disability or
veteran status. In
addition, based on our Catholic values and tradition we are
committed to protecting the dignity of each person and therefore
extend our nondiscrimination policy to include sexual
orientation. All University policies, practices and
procedures are administered in a manner consistent with our
Catholic Jesuit identity.
> Philosophy Statement of Saint Louis University
Saint Louis University is a Catholic university sponsored by the
Society of Jesus and dedicated to the Society’s ideal of
striving for academic excellence under the inspiration of the
Christian faith. It recognizes the essential importance of the
principles of academic freedom to its life as a community
committed to the discovery and sharing of truth.
In keeping with its
Christian vision of the
dignity of persons as
created in the image of God and as united under the Creator’s
loving providence, the University seeks to establish a collegial
environment in which those of diverse cultural backgrounds and
religious beliefs can participate in this community in a spirit
of cooperation and mutual respect.

OF RIGHTS AND RESPONSIBILITIES
As a
component of its Mission, the University assists students to
develop as critically reflective and socially responsible
persons capable of exercising leadership, by providing an
environment in which the intellectual, emotional, imaginative,
technical, social, religious, and spiritual abilities of
students are nurtured and strengthened. To strive to enhance,
and maintain a climate of integrity and subject to the
University’s Mission and its Jesuit, Catholic heritage, the
following rights are assured.
All programs and activities at Saint Louis University are open
to all students without regard to race, color, sex, age,
national origin, religion, sexual orientation, disability or
veteran status.
The University recognizes each student’s right of freedom of
speech, freedom of association, and free exercise of religion.
The University also recognizes each student’s right of freedom
of assembly, so long as such assembly is in accordance with
published University policy.
All students are
entitled to receive the highest standards of respect and
professional integrity from the faculty, staff, and
administration of the University
As a member of an academic and social community, each student
accepts the following responsibilities:

All students will be
respectful of
different backgrounds, religious traditions, personalities,
and beliefs of the students, faculty, and staff
who make up the Saint Louis University community.

In exercising the
rights under the Statement of Student Rights, students will
behave in a civil manner
which is respectful of
the rights of all other members of the University community-
students, faculty, staff, and administrators,
and will be guided by the duly adopted policies of the
institution which promote an orderly, safe, and secure
environment in the community.

Students have a responsibility to
inform themselves on issues which affect them and the
University, and to base their concerns and actions on accurate
and timely information.

As responsible members of the
University community, students will conduct themselves in
academic settings in a manner respectful of the rights of
their fellow learners and their teachers.

integrity to the faculty, staff and administration of the
University.
