2008-2009 SGA Platform

1. To connect students and our Student Government Association by: making public agendas and minutes in a timely fashion, revamping the SGA weekly mailer, having an open door policy in the SGA office, and via orientation programs.

2. To connect our Student Government Senate with administrators by providing Senators more access to upper-level administrators.

3. To connect students with administrators by continuing semesterly town halls and providing students the opportunity to connect with administrators personally, when necessary.

4. To try to combine only student resources into as few websites as possible.

5. To connect SLU students with students from other Saint Louis area schools through commitments like the Martin Luther King Dream Keepers initiative.

6. To connect SLU students to the city of Saint Louis through vehicles like Billiken Bucks being used off campus and events in the Grand Center.

7. To represent students’ interest in all applicable places including, but not limited to budget talks and other important university issues.

8. To make a commitment to making SLU a “greener” campus by supporting the Environmental Task Force and its initiatives.

9. To give student input and feedback on how to revamp the housing sign up process as well as other housing issues by collaborating with RHA and communicating with Housing and Residence Life.

10. To evaluate SLU campus dining including hours of operation and the use of Billiken Bucks.

11. To increase transparency for funding and possible “special projects” funding.

12. To increase school spirit by working with athletics and student life.

13. To ensure that SGA and its initiative are in line with the Jesuit Mission.

14. To increase diversity by supporting diversity initiatives from the Diversity Leadership Cabinet (DLC), the Cross-Cultural Center and other diversity groups.

15. To give student input on the library renovations as well as working towards a 24 hour library.

16. To increase consistency of introductory level courses.
