SLUCare provides a comprehensive and complete autopsy service. The autopsy provides significant information about diseases the patient suffered from and may provide specific information about why the patient died. There is broad consensus that the autopsy plays a major role in confirming the validity, value and appropriateness of diagnostic and therapeutic procedures as well as providing information to families about inheritable diseases, cancers, unexpected conditions and the cause of death.
The service is staffed by board-certified, academic pathologists on the faculty of Saint Louis University. Autopsies are performed seven days a week.
