Physician Assistant Program - Traditional Application Process
Applicants who meet the admission criteria outlined above and who wish to apply are invited to submit an application to the Central Application Service for Physician Assistants (CASPA) between mid-April and November 1 and submit the SLU supplemental application between June 1 and Nov. 1.
CASPA offers PA applicants a convenient, state-of-the-art, web-based application service that allows them to apply to multiple participating PA programs by completing a single application. CASPA collects one set of materials from each applicant and then authenticates and distributes them to each member program designated by the applicant. The online CASPA application is available at portal.caspaonline.org. CASPA applications and SLU supplemental applications are reviewed beginning June 1.
Letters of reference submitted to CASPA should be from persons who know the applicant well, either professionally or academically (e.g., job supervisor, professor or academic advisor).
All electronic application materials must be recieved by CASPA no later than Nov.1 to be considered.Applicants whose native language is other than English must take the TOEFL iBT by Nov. 1.
CASPA deadlines are strict. Applicants are solely responsible for monitoring the status of all materials submitted to CASPA. The CASPA web portal is accessible 24/7, enabling applicants to track which materials have been received and which have not.
SLU Supplemental Application
The SLU supplemental application and processing fee must be submitted by all candidates who apply to Saint Louis University through CASPA. The supplemental application must be submitted online. It can be accepted at anytime during the application cycle up to Nov. 1, 2014.
The supplemental application can be found at slu-pa.edu.185r.net/application/login/.
Applicants who have met all requirements are encouraged to apply early. Completed applications are reviewed in the order received. A complete application consists of:
- CASPA application, including three letters of reference
- SLU supplemental application and processing fee of $45
- TOEFL iBT scores, if applicable
A limited number of processing fee waivers will be available for applicants experiencing severe financial hardship. To be considered for a fee waiver, applicants must submit a written or e-mail request outlining reasons for the request and the nature of the financial hardship.
Highly competitive applicants are invited to SLU for personal interviews with members of the SLU PA Program Committee on Admissions. Typically five interview dates are scheduled during each application cycle (in Oct., Nov., Jan., Feb. and March), with 16 applicants invited for each date. During the interview process you will have a chance to speak with PA students and ask questions about their experience in the SLU PA Program
Class positions are offered on a modified rolling basis. We fill a few class seats within a couple weeks of each interview date. If an interviewee is not offered a seat immediately, the application is reconsidered with each interview date. Interviewees who are not offered a class position will likely become part of the alternate list.
