Introduction
to International Business
This course is a theoretical
and practical introduction to the issues, opportunities, and complexities
associated with doing business internationally. Topics to be covered are
foreign direct investment, international trade, firm and country competitiveness,
regional trade associations, international institutions, managerial functions
in an international context, organizational and national cultures, and
global marketing and financial management.
With regard to teaching
style, the course depends heavily on interaction between students and
the professor. Time in class will be spent with a combination of short
lectures, student presentations, interactive participation and discussion
of current events, and both individual and group exercises.
Upon successful completion
of the course, students should possess an awareness of the global business
environment, and should be able to demonstrate analytical and strategic
thinking skills that reflect an understanding of global business competition.
