Strategic Planning Process:
Framework
Within the decade, Saint Louis University will achieve distinction as
the finest Catholic university in the United States. The University will
attain this distinction by continuing to advance its mission
and by focusing its energy, resources, and efforts to realize its vision.
Engaged in a process initiated by President Biondi and led by Provost
Sandra Johnson, the University formulated and implemented a strategic
plan that will guide the University's future directions.
The
Strategic Planning Framework
The strategic plan provides a framework to move the University and its
members in a shared direction. The plan promotes coordination across the
different parts of the University. While on separate paths, the community
members are united by the strategic plan.
A
successful strategic plan is built on a foundation of broad participation
in the process on the part of the University community and on extensive
information gathering and sharing of knowledge.
Participation
from the University Community
At every stage of the planning process, the University community is invited
to participate. Student, faculty, staff, alumni, community members, and
others who have a stake in the University's future play a role in moving
the University forward. Each community member contributes to the overall
success of the institution. Broad participation on the part of the University's
community in the planning process builds consensus on the future of the
University and commitment to that future.
Information
Gathering and Knowledge Sharing
Gathering of information, particularly on trends affecting the University,
and the sharing of community members' knowledge about the past and present
provide an information-rich foundation for decision making about the University's
future.
