Professional Organizations and Associations

Broom serves on the Candidacy Committee of the Commission on Accreditation of Healthcare Management Education (CAHME), the accrediting body for graduate programs in health management. He also teaches competency-based education to other graduate programs around the country through the CAHME Boot Camps.

Broom also served as a CAHME fellow for four years, conducting many accreditation visits at programs located throughout North America.

Community Work

Broom has practitioner experience as a hospital chief financial officer and as a health administrator for a department of surgery, both within the Department of Defense.

Immediately prior to joining the SLU faculty, Broom served as a full-time graduate faculty member for the Army-Baylor University Graduate Program in Health and Business Administration, as well as an adjunct faculty member for Baylor University (main campus) and Trinity University. In these roles, he taught multiple courses such as Corporate Finance, Health Care Finance, Health Care Accounting and Investments.
