Denis E. Daly, SJ, has joined the administration of the Health Sciences Center as assistant vice president for mission and ministry. "The position of assistant vice president for mission and ministry is a critical one in advancing the mission and values of the Health Sciences Center," said Dr. James R. Kimmey, M.D., vice president for health sciences. "Father Daly's rich experience will be an asset to our organization in continuing to advance our mission and identity programs." In this position, Daly will define, develop and maintain mission-effectiveness programs, provide administrative support and direction to Health Sciences Center pastoral care programs and strive to ensure that the center's Jesuit mission and identity are represented in its outreach activities. Daly also serves as official chaplain for the Health Sciences Center. Most recently, Daly served as coordinator of the Ignatian Service Scholarship Program and a campus minister associate at Saint Louis University. Prior to that, he served as assistant to the director of admissions at the University from 1992 to 1994, director of the White House Retreat in south St. Louis County from 1982 to 1991, rector of the Jesuit community at SLU from 1977 to 1982 and director of the Sacred Heart Program, the Jesuit radio/television show for the United States and Canada, from 1966 to 1981. Daly's position previously was held by Richard J. Dunphy, SJ, from 1995 to 1997.
