Saint Louis University's School for Professional Studies is opening a satellite campus in south St. Louis County and a satellite "2+2" program in Belleville, Ill. The Belleville program is located at 2500 Carlyle Road at Belleville Area College, and the South County campus is located at 11124 South Towne Square, one block west of I-55 and three blocks north of Lindbergh Blvd. The School for Professional Studies offers working adults the opportunity to earn a Saint Louis University bachelor of arts degree in organizational communication close to their homes. Classes are scheduled to meet evenings or on Saturdays, with a choice of five eight-week terms year-round. Students can complete many of the core courses needed for 10 other degrees that would be finished on the University's Frost campus. "Working adults are busy people, but our new extension campuses give them the best of both worlds: a chance to earn a degree from Saint Louis University and locations convenient to where they live and work," said Dr. Robert L. Hasenstab, dean of the School for Professional Studies. "There are thousands of career-oriented adults in the St. Louis area who want a four-year degree. They know the reputation and value of a degree from Saint Louis University, and we want to make it as convenient for them as possible." Classes in Belleville are offered on Saturdays from 8 a.m. to noon and from 12:30 to 4:30 p.m. Classes in South County are offered Tuesday and Wednesday nights from 5:30 to 9:30 p.m., and Saturday mornings from 9 a.m. to 1 p.m. Students can take one or two courses per term, and up to 10 courses and 30 credit hours per year. Classes begin Aug. 26 in South County and Sept. 6 in Belleville. Scholarships, grants and other forms of financial assistance are available for eligible students. For more information, call the School for Professional Studies at 977-2330.
