- Q: I recently have hired a new employee in a staff position within my department. The new hire's spouse is the candidate of choice for another position within my department. What is the University's policy regarding a husband and wife working together in the same department?
- A: The University considers relationships, family or marriage, as neither an advantage nor a disadvantage with respect to employment or appointment. However, immediate family members (spouse, parent, child, sibling, in-law or other relatives living in the household) should not supervise or be supervised by one another.
- Q: If I should become disabled, how long would I have to wait after my sick leave runs out before Long Term Disability Benefits are payable?
- A: Participants in the Long Term Disability Plan have benefits coordinated with sick leave and accumulated vacation time. Benefits begin the later of 90 days, or the total of accumulated sick leave and vacation accrued as of the date of disability (not to exceed 180 days).
