A full schedule of dates are planned again this fall for the University's Shared Vision program. The three-part video-and-discussion program explores the University's Jesuit identity and its meaning.
During the past two years, more than 1,000 faculty and staff members have participated in the first two sessions. Part three is expected to be ready for use sometime next spring. The program educates employees about the essence of Jesuit education from its foundation by Ignatius Loyola to today.
"In the process, I believe we are developing a common language and an appreciation of those ideals and goals that are essential to Jesuit education," said University President Lawrence Biondi, SJ. Those ideals, he said, are its world-affirming spirituality; its belief that God can be found in all things; the magis or "more" we seek in all we do; a faith that promotes justice; and the imperative to be men and women for others.
Biondi also said that his goals for Shared Vision are ambitious. Within the next four years, he would like the majority of University faculty and staff to have participated in all three programs.
"We are partners in a wonderful tradition," he said. "The Shared Vision program can play a key role in our common understanding, appreciation and the living out of this heritage. I strongly encourage you to make the time to be a part of our Shared Vision."
The two-hour programs will be held on both the Health Sciences Center and Frost campuses.
Shared Vision I: The Beginnings will be offered on the Frost Campus in Jesuit Hall on Sept. 24, Oct. 9, Oct. 28 and Dec. 1. The program will be held in the LRC on the Health Sciences Center campus on Sept. 16, Oct. 20, Nov. 12 and Nov. 24.
Shared Vision II: Transformation is scheduled at Jesuit Hall on Sept. 17, Sept. 29, Oct. 21, Nov. 13 and Nov. 21. It will be offered in the LRC on Sept. 25, Oct. 10, Oct. 22, Oct. 29, Nov. 17, and Dec. 2.
