NOTHING BUT NET: Director of Athletics Doug Woolard has announced that AudioNet will broadcast Billiken basketball games live to listeners around the world on the Internet. The University joins more than 130 collegiate programs currently broadcasting with AudioNet, the Dallas-based Internet broadcasting company. The broadcasts can be accessed through AudioNet's web site at: http://drew.audionet.com/schools/slu. "Since I've been here at Saint Louis our goal has always been to make our basketball games available to the widest audience possible," Woolard said. "This is another route for us to do just that. AudioNet gives Saint Louis alumni and fans around the world the access to hear every Billiken game." To listen to the Billikens' live action, users will need RealAudio software, which is available to download free-of-charge at the AudioNet web site. Specific instructions on how to download and install the software on a personal computer also are available at AudioNet's web site. "Until AudioNet came along, alumni and fans who live outside the radio broadcast signal area were out of luck," said Mark Cuban, president of AudioNet. "But AudioNet has dramatically changed that. Now, no matter where alumni and fans live, they can listen to the live play-by-play of the Billikens through their personal computer and AudioNet." AudioNet, the largest broadcast network on the Internet, web-casts live and on-demand audio and video content, including radio and television play-by-play of sporting events as well as live concerts, conferences, speeches and other special events to web users around the world. Founded in 1995, AudioNet has built a media distribution network with the infrastructure and bandwidth capacity to support the largest number of simultaneous listeners on the Internet.
