New Option Available for Students
Registration Can Now Be Done from Homes or Dorm Room
Students now can register for classes from the convenience of their homes, dorm rooms or any University computer lab.
University Registrar John Jaffry has announced that self-registration using SLU STAR (Saint Louis University Student Access Record Information) will be offered this semester for all students. Many students now use SLU STAR for other uses, such as checking grades, class schedules or their academic records.
"But before any student can complete self-registration, he or she will need to meet with his or her adviser to discuss the course of study," Jaffry said. These meetings can take place at any time during the semester. Preregistration for summer and fall classes begins April 16 and continues through May 8.
Faculty advisers use screen 706 in the Student Information Management System (SIMS) to give approval for the student to register by placing a 'Y' in the "Can the student register?" field. Registration can be completed any time beginning April 6, based on classification priority. Students will be able to add or drop classes for the fall semester until the end of the first week of classes.
"If a student is not familiar with how to use the system, the time for learning is now," Jaffry said.
Students can go to the office of the university registrar in DuBourg Hall room 22 to receive assistance in gaining access to computerized files and registration.
"We are counting on the cooperation of our faculty advisers as we expand service to students through SLU STAR," Jaffry said.
