Christian E. Paletta, M.D., has been appointed director of the Saint Louis University Division of Plastic and Reconstructive Surgery in the department of surgery at the School of Medicine.
Paletta had been serving as interim director of this division since the retirement of Sameer Shehadi, M.D., last summer.
"Dr. Paletta has demonstrated outstanding leadership skills and capabilities, which makes him the logical individual to appoint as the permanent director," said Thomas A. Miller, M.D., C. Rollins Hanlon Professor and chairman of the department of surgery. "He is well-suited for this position both from the standpoint of academic credentials as well as the many contributions he has made to the field of plastic surgery during his tenure as a member of our academic faculty."
Paletta joined the Saint Louis University faculty in 1986 and is a tenured associate professor. Paletta follows in the footsteps of his father, F.X. Paletta, M.D., who joined the faculty of Saint Louis University in 1949 and began the division of plastic and reconstructive surgery under the guidance of C. Rollins Hanlon, M.D.
