Redesigned Saint Louis University Web Site Is Up and Running

Saint Louis University's World Wide Web site at www.slu.edu has a new look.

"The site has been redesigned, which should make it easier to navigate and should allow browsers to get the most out of their Ôvirtual visits' to Saint Louis University," said John Kerr, associate vice president for University public relations. "Technology continues to transform higher education, and we must do everything possible to remain competitive in this constantly changing field."

The transition to the new Web design was implemented June 22. The changeover did not affect the current addresses for the specific pages created by departments.

To ensure a standard look and feel for the University's Web site, templates are available to use in implementing cosmetic changes to departmental and other pages.

"By adopting a standard appearance for our pages, our Web site will offer a cohesive presentation to all users throughout the world," Kerr said. "We understand that this cannot happen overnight. Public relations, ITS and biomedical communications will be more than happy to assist you if necessary. But we would like to see your page updated to complement the new, overall appearance of Saint Louis University's Web site by the beginning of the fall semester, if possible."

The new design will not affect the content of pages, but University officials expect departments and individuals to update information frequently. "It is not enough just to be present on the Web," Kerr said. "It is a highly interactive medium, and information must be up-to-date."
