Members of the media frequently call the University for experts on various topics. If your expertise can be used for a breaking news story, call your campus media representative. The following are a few recent national media hits. Space makes it impossible to print all media mentions, particularly on the local or statewide level.
Margie Sawicki (nutrition and dietetics) was interviewed by YM magazine and Woman's World magazine regarding overeating and the holidays. She also was interviewed by USA Today Weekend on tips to reduce fat.
Elisabeth Heiberg, M.D. (radiology) was interviewed by American Health magazine regarding an MRI technique she developed to detect breast cancer.
John Foley, SJ, and Carol Marie Hemish, SSND (Center for Liturgy) were interviewed by the National Catholic Reporter for a story about the use of the body, for example genuflecting or making the sign of the cross, during the liturgy.
Dr. Robert Brockhaus (entrepreneurial studies) was interviewed by the Financial Times for a story about entrepreneurship.
Edwin Lisson, SJ (theological studies) was interviewed by Discover magazine for a story about the FBI opening a nationwide DNA database. Lisson discussed the bioethical issues presented by such a database.

Dr. Steven Puro (political science) was interviewed by Gannett News Service for a story about President Bill Clinton's fund-raising abilities. Puro was quoted in several national daily newspapers, including the Cincinnati Enquirer.
Joel Goldstein (law) was interviewed by the Washington Post for a story about Vice President Al Gore's campaign trips for the November election. Goldstein discussed the effects Gore's strategies could have on the next presidential election.
Hal Deuser (financial aid) was quoted in a USA Today article about college visits and financial aid. Deuser discussed the financial aid available for graduate students.

James A. Monteleone, M.D. (pediatrics and gynecology) was interviewed via a satellite media tour about his new book, A Parent's and Teacher's Handbook on Identifying and Preventing Child Abuse. Monteleone was interviewed live by television stations in Baltimore, Buffalo, N.Y., Raleigh-Durham, N.C., Washington, D.C., San Antonio, Denver, Indianapolis, Providence, R.I., Sacramento-Stockton, Calif., Kansas City, Mo., Tampa-St. Petersburg, Fla., Cincinnati, Orlando-Daytona Beach, Fla., and Philadelphia. He was interviewed by radio stations in Cleveland, Los Angeles, San Diego, Boston, Baltimore, Detroit, Portland, Ore. and Minneapolis. In addition, Monteleone taped interviews with Fox News Edge, American Urban Radio Network and United Press International Radio. Monteleone's book also was reviewed on "Health Matters," a segment on Canada's Global Television Network.

George T. Grossberg, M.D. (psychiatry) was interviewed by Healthscout News Service. Grossberg discussed a study to develop a urine test for diagnosing Alzheimer's disease and a study of a drug that would arrest the progress of Alzheimer's.
Dr. Michael McClymond (theological studies) was quoted on the cover of the Sunday Los Angeles Times in the "Column One" feature article, "Seeking the Biology of Spirituality." McClymond, formerly a faculty member at the University of California at San Diego, organized a conference on that campus titled "Human Selves and Transcendent Experiences: A Dialogue Between Science and Religion."
