In common with many Christian churches until the early decades of the 20th century, pew rental was charged. At the College Church rent was fixed per quarter, and sometimes was paid in installments. A sample rent in the first 12 pews, for example, was $30 per quarter. Pews further back were $3 per quarter. The last five rows were free. All are families who were early benefactors of the College Church.
