GOING PRO::Saint Louis University senior sweeper Kevin Kalish was selected by Kansas City as the second pick in the third round of the Major League Soccer draft. The draft was held in Fort Lauderdale, Fla. Kalish spearheaded a Billiken defense that had the lowest goals against average in Conference USA at 0.87 and was second in shutouts with eight in 1998. His two points last year came from assists on a pair of game-winning goals against Marquette and California. Earlier in the postseason, Kalish was named C-USA's Defensive Player of the Year and first team All-Conference. In the preseason, he was both a Soccer America and Soccer News All-American. C-USA coaches selected him as the preseason co-player of the year and first team All-Conference.
