Hameed Hindi, professor of aerospace technology at Parks College of Engineering and Aviation, died Feb. 1. He was 43.

Mr. Hindi had been with the University for 18 years. He was a 1986 graduate of Parks College.

Mr. Hindi was an active member of a number of professional organizations and adviser for student organizations on campus. In 1995 he received the Outstanding Adviser Award from the Society of Automotive Engineers.

"Hameed had that unique ability, so sought after in the academic arena, to have a real and profound effect on students," said a Parks College colleague, Terrence Kelly. "He was able to reach out and touch the hearts as well as the minds of those people he came into contact with."

Mr. Hindi is survived by his wife, Brenda, and two children, Wesley, 8, and Lika, 7.

Contributions in Mr. Hindi's honor can be made to the Hameed Hindi Memorial Fund. Please send checks to the Parks College dean's office in McDonnell Douglas Hall, Room 1002.
