Saint Louis University is pleased to announce a new, automated employment verification service. This service will speed up the time it takes to process an employment verification for home mortgages, automobile loans, apartment rentals and other matters while keeping the process highly confidential.
"A company named Personnel On-Line Services will handle all requests," said Bob Chism, assistant director of human resources. "Human resources personnel no longer will handle requests for employment verification."
When someone needs to verify one's employment with SLU, the employee or former employee must give the requester:
- The employment verification phone number (1-900-555-4000).
- The three-digit "company number" (310).
- His or her social security number.
- His or her PIN (A six-digit random number for each employee).
"This will ensure confidentiality and privacy," Chism said. "Verifications of employment or salary information can be released only to those whom you authorize and provide the above information."
With your approval, the person or agency requesting employment verification or salary information calls the employment verification phone number (1-900-555-4000) and is asked for your "company number," your Social Security Number and your PIN.
The requesting person or agency then has the option of receiving verification of your employment over the phone or by fax instantaneously.
This service is provided at no cost to employees. For convenience, the service will be available 24 hours a day, seven days a week.
Information verified will include employment and salary data, such as full name, Social Security number, date of hire, job title, current pay rate (converted to hourly), year-to-date earnings, previous year earnings, job status (hours worked previous week, i.e., 40 hours if full time) and date of termination, if applicable.
If you have any questions or comments, please e-mail Bob Chism at Chismb@slu.edu. The confidential individualized pin number will be included on each employee's pay stub in late February or March. Employees needing their individualized PIN before that date must request it by e-mail to Reineca@slu.edu.
Job performance reference requests will continue to be processed in accordance with University Policy 3.5.6.
