Grant Winners Honored by Graduate School

The Graduate School's office of research services held its 24th annual Grantwinner Reception at Queen's Daughters Hall on April 28. This reception honors faculty who have been successful in obtaining external support for research and scholarly activities.

Dr. Donald G. Brennan, dean of the Graduate School and associate provost for research, and Provost Sandra Johnson presented three awards in recognition of extraordinary efforts in obtaining external support for the University's research and scholarly activities.

Dr. Brian J. Mitchell (earth and atmospheric sciences) received a citation and a cash award for his "continuing commitment to excellence in research and success in obtaining external support" and for his activity that "has advanced research excellence in this academic community and has earned acclaim for É the University."

John J. Ammann (law) received an award for "efforts to provide educational and practical experiences for students" and for his "successful efforts to obtain external support for these activities, which is indicative of a commitment to academic excellence and to the University."

The department of earth and atmospheric sciences was honored for "continuing commitment to excellence in providing educational opportunities to students and of success in obtaining external support, which activity has advanced excellence in this academic community and has earned acclaim for the department and the University."
